Department of Pharmaceutics

Pharmaceutics is an important department of Pharmacy. Pharmaceutics is an art of converting a drug in to dosage form which can be easily administered. In this department medicament is converted into various dosage forms like tablets, capsules, powders, granules, emulsions, suspensions, ointments, creams and so on. This department also deals with extraction of crude drugs and formation of Ayurvedic dosage forms too. In this department various cosmetic preparations are also prepared. Student acquire hands on skill of various processes like weighing, mixing, trituration, size separation, filtration, heating and techniques like aseptic filling, sterilization etc. They become able to dispense prescribed medicines. Students also become able to identify incompatibilities in a prescription and correct it. They are also get knowledge of new drug delivery systems.
